TEXT TIDY
Terms of use
These terms describe what Text Tidy is, what it promises and what it does not. By using the site you accept them. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and the short version below is a fair summary of the whole page.
The short version
- The tool is provided free of charge, as is, without warranty.
- You are responsible for the text you enter and for checking the result.
- The output is a mechanical transformation, not an editorial or legal judgement.
- Always review the output before you publish, submit or rely on it.
What the service is
Text Tidy is a browser-based utility that performs a fixed set of mechanical text transformations: case conversion, whitespace cleanup, blank-line removal, exact duplicate removal, line sorting and line reversal, together with character, word and line counting. Each transformation is applied to text you supply and produces a new version of that text. The rules behind each transformation are published on the How it works page.
Provided as is
The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. No warranty is given that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free of errors, or that any defect will be corrected.
No responsibility for the output
The transformations are mechanical and deterministic, but that does not make their results correct for your purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, the output of this tool. In particular:
- The tool does not verify the accuracy, authorship, copyright status, legal meaning or suitability of any text.
- It does not detect whether a transformation has removed something you needed. Removing duplicate lines or blank lines is destructive by design.
- It does not provide editorial, legal, medical, financial or professional advice of any kind.
- It does not check whether your text complies with any law, regulation, contract or submission guideline.
You are responsible for the text you enter, for the transformations you choose to apply, and for reviewing the result before you publish, submit, import or otherwise rely on it. Because the input panel is never modified, the original is always available for comparison until you clear it or close the page.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the maintainer of Text Tidy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of the service — whether the claim arises in contract, tort or otherwise, and whether or not the possibility of such damage was known.
Where a jurisdiction does not permit the exclusion of certain warranties or liabilities, those exclusions apply only to the extent permitted, and the remaining terms continue in full force.
Acceptable use
You may use the tool for any lawful purpose. You may not use it to process text you are not permitted to handle, to attempt to disrupt or overload the service, to reverse engineer or redistribute the site as your own, or in any way that infringes the rights of others. You are solely responsible for ensuring that the text you enter does not infringe any third party's rights.
Intellectual property
The text you enter remains yours. We claim no rights over it and, because it is never transmitted to us, we could not exercise any. The site itself — its code, design, documentation and guides — remains the property of its maintainer and is protected by copyright.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated when the service changes. The date at the top of the page reflects the current version, and continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
